Sam Smith was booted from a dating app for looking too much like... Sam Smith.

"The singer, 28, signed up to a string of apps but was soon blocked by Hinge as its moderators thought they were using a fake profile," reports the Independent.

They explained their dating app woes in a virtual interview Andy Cohen last Thursday night on an episode of "Watch What Happens Live!"

First they were asked "by a fan by a fan to either confirm or deny if they are still single, Smith told the guest: 'I'm still single. I'm on the frontline with all the single people still and it's been difficult ... I've gone on all the apps and stuff,'" reports People Magazine.

Cohen then asked Smith about dating apps. "I took your advice and I joined this dating site called Hinge in the U.K. and they chucked me off of it after one night cause they thought I was a catfish pretending to be me," they said.

Smith explained that being single during the pandemic has been "difficult," and promised Cohen they will try Tinder because the host says he knows someone who can get them verified on the app.

"Following the 'WWHL' episode, Hinge responded to Smith's claims in a cheeky tweet, writing, "Sorry @SamSmith! We know you're too good at goodbyes but give us a second chance at finding you ([email protected]) someone special. We will verify your profile."

In a separate interview on Apple Music with Zane Lowe, they "also spoken out about the toll that panic attacks, anxiety and depression have had on their life," the Independent writes.

"I've always been sad, but for the first time I actually really had mental health issues, like panic attacks, anxiety and depression", Smith said.

"Smith's new album release has been postponed due to the pandemic. It will be their third record in all following on from 2017's 'The Thrill of It All,'" reports The Independent.
