Boston Calling Reveals Lineup for New 3rd Stage

READ TIME: 4 MIN.

Boston Calling reveals another exciting new component of its highly anticipated May 2016 festival, a third stage featuring some of the areas most talented comedians and up-and-coming bands.

The new stage will offer programming on Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29 with five comedians and four bands in total; it will be hosted by Boston's very own comic genius Lamont Price. The addition of the third stage signifies Boston Calling's continued growth and desire to give the city's thriving arts and entertainment culture a place to shine. Boston Calling hosts its seventh edition this May 27, 28 and 29, 2016 at City Hall Plaza.

Host Lamont Price has been hailed by Comedy Central as a "Comedian to Watch," has opened up for Hannibal Buress and been featured in Rolling Stone and on NPR. Price worked with Boston Calling to book notable Boston-area comics to join him, including Ken Reid, Sean Sullivan, Orlando Baxter and Kelly McFarland. Additionally, Boston Calling booked Boston bands Black Beach, Lady Pills, These Wild Plains and Nemes to also perform over the weekend.

"It's no secret that Boston Calling has quickly become one of the premiere live music festivals in all the land," said Price. "When the festival called and asked me to help curate a brand new Comedy stage I immediately said, 'yes - as long as I get to be Janelle Monae's hype man and best friend/husband!'," said Price. In seriousness, Price elaborates it was "difficult to choose just four comics," but he "can't think of four better people to slang jokes with on a Memorial Day Weekend."

Boston Calling has earned the praise of over 250,000 fans since its first edition in May of 2013 and has received glowing reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and The Boston Globe for everything from its versatile lineup to its quality of production.

Boston Magazine wrote, "In less than three years, Boston Calling has become not just the city's biggest music festival, but one of Boston's most iconic events. A three-day party in the heart of Government Center, it's been a cross-genre, cross-generational success." Set on a hill in Downtown Boston and with the city's skyline as its backdrop, Boston Calling's locale at City Hall Plaza continues to offer the ideal urban festival vibe. Production highlights include two primary performance stages with non-overlapping sets, festival-wide beer experiences from the locally founded and based Samuel Adams, a food pavilion comprised of locally and nationally known food vendors, along with world-class lighting, special effects and design.

Boston Calling also features a VIP component whereby VIP ticketholders have access to City Hall Courtyard, a 25,000 square foot Mezzanine offering prime views of both stages as well as curated food menus and amenities.

Crash Line Productions is a Boston-based entertainment production company that owns and produces dozens of events each year. Formed in 2012 by Brian Appel and Mike Snow, Crash Line Productions continues to build its event platform around the semi-annual Boston Calling Music Festival and the new Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

City Hall Plaza is located at One City Hall Square in downtown Boston. The festival is accessible via the city's T, at the Government Center stop on the Green or Blue line, the Park Street stop on the Green or Red Line, the State Street stop on the Orange or Blue line and the Haymarket stop on the Orange or Green line. The 92 and 93 buses also stop outside of City Hall Plaza on Congress Street.
