Daily Mail Report Claims Aaron Hernandez Left Suicide Note for 'Gay Prison Lover'
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
A new report from the Daily Mail claims sources told the publication former NFL star Aaron Hernandez, who took his own life in a Massachusetts prison this week, left behind three handwritten suicide notes. One was to his fiance Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, another to his 4-year-old daughter, and a third message to what the Daily Mail describes as his "gay prison lover."
The Daily Mail reports anonymous sources "close to the investigation" tipped them off to the note, adding the sources did not identify the alleged lover. The newspaper claims the man was the last person to speak to Hernandez, 27, before the athlete took his own life, adding the alleged prison love is under "eyeball to eyeball" suicide watch.
The notes were allegedly found next to a Bible the former New England Patriots tight end left open to John 3:16 - the same verse that was reportedly written across his forehead in marker, according to The Daily Mail's report.
The content of the alleged notes has yet to be revealed and it should be noted no other news outlet has confirmed the notes nor Hernandez's "prison lover."
Hernandez's death came less than a week after he was acquitted of murdering two Boston men in 2012. He was previously serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player who was dating Hernandez's fiancee's sister.
The Daily Mail, a U.K. tabloid newspaper, has had its share of controversies over the years for its sensational, false, and inaccurate reporting.
