Watch: Calling Herself a 'Disrupter,' Caitlyn Jenner Compares Herself to Donald Trump

Caitlyn Jenner identified herself with ex-President Donald Trump in an unsteady appearance on "The View" on Thursday. When pressed by Joy Behar if she was one of those Republicans who believe Trump won the election, she hedged her answer.

"I'm not going to get into that, that election is over with," but she proceeded to draw a parallel between herself and Trump. "He was a disrupter when he was president. I want to do the same thing. I want to go in and be a thoughtful disrupter in Sacramento. We need to change the system, and I want to change that system for the positive."

"Jenner's campaign was launched in April, and she reportedly got help and advice from Brad Parscale, Trump's former campaign manager," writes Deadline. In addition, the campaign is working with GOP fundraiser Caroline Wren, who helped plan the Jan. 6 rally at the Ellipse in Washington that preceded the siege on the Capitol."

"I wanted to put the best group of people, as you would call it, insiders, for a political campaign," Jenner said. "I was able to hire some of the best people out there to join campaign. And it is more than just Brad or Caroline. There is a whole host of people that have worked with me over the past few months. ... I feel like I have a good team around me that can lead me to victory."

Jenner also touched upon the issue of transgender athletes when asked to explain her opposition to their participation in high school programs. "During the interview, host Sara Haines pushed Jenner on her support of legislation that bans transgender athletes from competing on teams that don't match the gender assigned to them at birth," reports The Wrap.

"As an Olympian, and one of the most famous athletes in the world, your thoughts do carry some weight here," Haines noted. "You've called it 'fundamentally a question of fairness.' Opponents say it's pure discrimination. How significant do you think this issue is?"

"To be honest with you, it's a very small issue in the state of California," Jenner replied, deflecting a direct response. "I have been very outspoken on this. You can go to my website... I explain everything. But we have so many bigger issues in this state."

When asked in May by a reporter, CNN reported, she said: "This is a question of fairness. That's why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls' sports in school," said Jenner. "It just isn't fair. And we have to protect girls' sports in our schools."

"She did not answer a follow-up question from the reporter about whether that view delegitimizes the identity of children who transition and now identify as girls," CNN added.
