What Happens When It's Too Big for Comfort?

The Daily Mail looked at the downside of a man having a big penis by looking at Reddit threads in which women broke off relationships, even marriages, over their partner being too well-endowed. The tabloid writes "having a very large penis can also cause men to suffer self-esteem issues and mental distress stemming from rejection by women, a top sexual health nurse has claimed."

The DM spoke with Oxford Online Pharmacy's Lorraine Grover, who's said in her experience "so many people" suffer relationship breakdown due to penis size – both too large, and too small. 

"Men [broken up with due to penis size] are often left questioning their worth and desirability," she said; and she pointed to a mega-thread on Reddit entitled 'Have you ever broken up with a man because of his penis? If so, why?' as proof. 

A Reddit post that received 4,000 likes begins: "Once dated a guy that had a -mega- penis. No matter what we did, he hurt me. Neither of us found the situation enjoying, so we decided to part ways."

She also cited a related Reddit thread in which men told of how their large penises was the reason why relationships ended.

"It's interesting to see so many people being so candid online – albeit anonymously – about how they have broken up someone/been broken up with due to penis size," adds Ms. Glover.

"This only sounds cool to people with small penises because it never happens to them all the fucking time.

"You can end up in sexual limbo sometimes. Either you're the bad guy when you really get into it and hurt her, or you don't fully enjoy yourself or sometimes don't even have an orgasm because you're trying so hard to hold back."

She added: "It's important to remember that confidence is not just about size – it's about self-acceptance, communication and what makes intimacy fulfilling beyond penetration."

Ms. Glover's comments viewed the issue through a heterosexual lens. But what of gay men?

A Reddit thread called "I Pass on Guys with Big Dicks" offers some insight.

"There's definitely such a thing as "too big". I've actually had super hot guys get mad at me cuz I won't bottom for their weapon of ass destruction. 'You're limiting yourself!" I'm like "Bitch - where am I gonna fit that 2-liter bottle of Mountain Don't!?'" writes one.

One big-dicked Reddit reader added: "Big dicks are overrated, and I say that as a guy with a big ol dick. In my experience with topping, people's eyes are bigger than their buttholes, and I'd say more than half of the time anal sex is not an option for me, despite the other person insisting that they want to do it."

And another wrote: "Big dicks are overrated. I'll take a slim Jim over Big Chungus any day. Not only better for the back end, but jaw fatigue isn't much of an issue at all."
