READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Six-time Emmy Award-winning writer and actor Bruce Vilanch brings decades of comedy and hilarious stories to Florida!
Fort Lauderdale's Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library, a leader in protecting and preserving the history and culture of LGBTQ+ community, welcomes the iconic Bruce Vilanch on March 11th for an exclusive reading and book signing of his new book 'It Seemed Like a Bad Idea at the Time'.
"Bruce Vilanch brings a unique style, and viewpoint to his comedy. That has created a legacy allowing him to be an important advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. His talent is well recognized and gives him credibility when he takes on the serious issues facing our community and issues. Many years ago, Bruce worked with me on a salute to Oscar winning film director, Sidney Lumet, it will be nice to host and interview him on March 11th." stated Robert Kesten, President and CEO.
Head writer of the Oscars as well as a writer for the Tonys, Grammys, and Emmys, Vilanch's career led to him writing for some of the most influential names in the industry, including Cher, Eartha Kitt, the Village People, and various television specials (both famous and infamous). His work has not only entertained millions but has paved the way for greater representation and inclusion in the entertainment world.
'It Seemed Like a Bad Idea at the Time' offers a fascinating look into the infamous projects Vilanch has worked on, including The Star Wars Holiday Special, The Paul Lynde Halloween Special, Rob Lowe dancing with Snow White at the Oscars, and The Brady Bunch Variety Hour. From career highs to laughable lows, Vilanch's upcoming reading will touch upon the events that shaped him into the man he is today.
Kesten added, "We expect a lot of laughs at this book reading and signing. Bruce never disappoints. He is the consummate professional and can turn almost anything into a humorous story. This has made his efforts combatting homophobia palatable to some of the most uninformed across the nation."
