A 62-year-old unnamed man has been charged with inserting hydrochloric acid into a lubricant dispenser at a Sydney gay and bisexual sex club last Saturday.

The club, Aarows, states that it is "Sydney's premier health, recreation & social center where safe sex is permitted regardless of gender."

According to police, the items within the clubrooms have sensor alarms due to similar tampering in the past. The alarm on the lube dispenser triggered his arrest.

"Police will allege an alarm sounded and security detained the man before police from Rosehill Local Area Command attended," police, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

He was charged with administering poison intending to harm, entering a building with intent to commit an indictable offence and a number of other charges.

Hydrochloric acid is clear, colorless and highly corrosive. It can cause irreversible damage to the body through contact, such as burning of the skin or eyes. There are no reported injuries as of the time of this publication.
